The Chamonix museum provides an accurate and interesting history of the valley. On two floors there is a fascinating range of exhibits covering the geological and human history of Chamonix.
Montenvers Mer de Glace Museum - Musée du Montenvers et de la Mer de Glace, Chamonix Mont Blanc
Take the Montenvers train from Chamonix to see the Mer de Glace or "Sea of Ice" and visit this small museum.
Open in July-August from 10:00 to 17:00.
After a scenic train ride and stunning views over the glacier a visit to this small museum is recommended.
The documents on the Mer de Glace and the construction of the Montenvers railway, along with ancient objects, old prints, and a beautiful collection of crystals makes for a interesting day out.
