Half poetry, half realism, Takeo Adachi's work is characterized by an omnipresent motif, stone, which he perceives as a mysterious, concentrated force. Focusing particularly on pebbles arranged in a line or a circle, Adachi draws them in minute detail with a pencil, from a very low angle. In his latest series Adachi adds rope - a Japanese symbol of life and purity.
An exhibition of watercolours by the Moscovite artist, Guennady Pylaev, dedicated to the Mont-Blanc massive.
The artist came to Chamonix for the first time in 1993. He defines his work as "the art of contemplation."
Pylaev's watercolours are very characteristic, associating the elegance of 19th century artists with the enthusiasm of the 21st century.
One autumn, while resting after a busy guiding season, I was drawn by the idea of putting some of my experiences on paper, to immortalise some of those amazing moments and to attempt to show others the splendour of the mountains, an artist's impression rather than photographer's or a writer's. Water colours, acrylics and colours have been my travelling companions in my mountain adventures.
