Guides Bureaux in Chamonix are either Collectives or private businesses. For the client, there is little difference, both should supply an excellent service. When hiring a High Mountain Guide through a Bureau or Agencies, the actual Guide will be selected by the agency, though they will listen to and comply as best they can, with any requirements, particularly language requests. Bureaux are best used when an Alpine Guide is required at short notice. All the High Mountain Guides Associations in Chamonix are members of the IFMGA
