The Chamonix Valley is renowned for its mountaineering, ski touring and off piste skiing.
Mountaineering in the Aiguilles Rouges
Savvy skiing and surfing away from the piste takes more than being a good. A minimum of awareness of the high alpine environment is required and a good knowledge of the area is recommended. One option is to always go with a guide. But for the more independent, mountain training is a must.
Several companies and organisations run a selection of courses in both english and french. e.g. Winter mountaineering, Ice climbing, Rock climbing, Ski Touring, Avalanche awareness, Glacier travel.
A course can be a small part of a holiday, or indeed, be the whole holiday.
