Col de Balme Take the Charamillon telecabine from Le Tour. Follow the signs to the
Col des Posettes ( 1997m ). At the col turn right on the 4x4 track that
heads up to the Col de Balme.
It is easily recognisable by the stone
alpine restaurant in the centre of the col. A great place for hot
chocolate and shelter. 1hr from Le Tour, easy riding Vallorcine Take the Charamillon telecabine from Le Tour. Follow the signs to the
Col des Posettes ( 1997m ). This is 4x4 track. Arriving at the col the
views of the Vallorcine valley and Switzerland are spectacular.
Follow
the sign to Vallorcine and take the road back over the Col des Mtets.
1hr 45mins from Le Tour to Vallorcine, - easy to Col des Posettes, long
downhill to Vallorcine La Jeux Take the Charamillon telecabine from Le Tour. Follow the signs to the
Col des Posettes ( 1997m ). Take the 4x4 track in the direction of
Vallorcine, but cut hard right on to a second 4x4 track by the
chairlift station. This track leads to La Jeux in Switzerland so
remember your passport !!!
2hr 30mins to La Jeux, easy to Col des Posettes, long downhill to La Jeux. Valley Trails The Petit Balcon Nord starts from Le Tour - ( see Chamoinx section )
Another small trail runs from Le Tour to Montroc along the riverside.
The
trail splits off into three. One split leads to the Balcon Nord above
Le Planet. Another trail continues to the railway brigde while the
third heads into Montroc itself. Easy riding. Le Tour - Trient A tough ride from the restaurant at the Col du Balme. The trail winds
around the left side of the Tete de Balme gradually heading towards
Switzerland on a high traverse. Eventually it drops down into the
village of Trient in Switzerland.
Only go with somebody who knows the
way. The correct path dropping to Trient is hard to find and could be
the difference between good and bad biking.
