Helicopter accident on the Glacier d'Argentiere - Chamonix news (Aug 18 2008)
For unknown reasons, one of the Chamonix valley's helicopters had to make a crash landing yesterday on the Argentière glacier. Although the Écureuil B3 helicopter is badly damaged, luckily, nobody was seriously injured.
Flying for Chamonix Mont-Blanc Hélicoptère, the very experienced pilot, Pascal Brun, had to make an emergency landing during a routine flight when his engine light came on indicating a serious problem. The helicopter came down hard on the Argentière glacier near the line of séracs. Pascal Brun was able to contact the PGHM who evacuated him to Sallanches hospital for various injuries.
There were no passengers.
