The second annual Trail des Aiguilles Rouges, sponsored by Montrail, was an enormous success, raising approximately 6000 Euros in support of the families of the Nepali victims of the Kang Guru avalanche.
The Aiguilles Rouges Trail race covers 58kms of up and down through the Aiguilles Rouges National Reserve starting in Les Houches and finishing in Chamonix. Grueling, the race includes 4100m of vertical.The men’s winner was Dawa Sherpa who finished in 6 hours 47 minutes and 38 seconds. Vincent Delebarre and Rudy Gouy came in second and third respectively.
The women’s winner was Sylvie Negro, finishing in 9 hours 35 minutes and 45 seconds. Maud Giraud came in second. Catherine Renou was third.
Chamonix.net's representative, who wishes to remain anonymous, came in 18th in the men's race, replacing a friend in the interest of charity. Questioned, he said that it was fun to run incognito and that he will do it again next year.
