Les Houches will re-open abandonned draglift this winter - Chamonix news (Oct 10 2008)
Les Houches will re-open the École draglift this winter since the construction of the École chairlift has been halted due to the Les Houches ski area dispute.
Les Houches does not want to neglect its beginners. To prove its commitment to continued service the ski resort will rebuild the draglift which used to serve the beginner's area.In order to start up the draglift, which was scheduled for demolition, SEPP has some renovations to perform. It will reconstruct the lift and replace the cable.
The bitterness of the dispute is more than evident. SEPP also intends to build a barrier all along the draglift to prevent Prarion cable car users from traversing onto SEPP territory.
