Chamonix will host the alpine skiing and ice hockey if Annecy wins 2018 Olympic bid - Chamonix news (Dec 02 2008)
Last weekend the powers that be all combined and agreed on the various sites for Annecy's 2018 Olympic bid.
Today we find out that Chamonix is the pretender for the alpine skiing and ice hockey events.

Other Mont Blanc and Grand Massif resorts:
Flaine: snowboarding
Megève: ice hockey
Saint-Gervais: curling, ice hockey finals

Les Portes du Soleil:
Morzine-Avoriaz: alpine skiing

Annecy and Aravis region:
Annecy: speedskating, figure skating,
La Clusaz = cross country skiing, ski jumping, nordic events, freestyle
Grand Bornand: biathlon

Savoie
Macôt-la-Plagne: bobsleigh, luge,

Saint-Gervais and Argonay-Pringy and proposed as the two Olympic villages. The Roche-sur-Foron would be the international press centre.

Of course all of this depends on the selection of Annecy-Haute Savoie as the French candidate and France's decision to run as a 2018 host. Annecy has until the 21st of January to complete its proposal. Then the French Olympic committee will make its decision in March.
