The new official publication of the Chamonix Mairie is finally published. In this edition you will find the big subjects of the moment (projects, sport, environment,...) but also the page of the 'Opposition', where they talk about the Downhill Mountain Bike in the Chamonix Valley...

Three alpinists dead on the Mont Blanc
Around 11am yesterday, the PGHM Chamonix received a phone call from the Tete Rousse Hut. They were alerted for a big rock fall in the Couloir du Gouter. A few minutes later, a Mountain Guide called too and said that he saw 3 men falling in the Couloir. The 3 alpinists made a fall of more or less 600m.
Unfortunatly, the weather conditions were really bad (wind, rain and thunder storm) and it was impossible for the PGHM to organise a rescue.
As soon as the weather allows, the PGHM rescue team will start the search.
A little bit sooner in the morning the PGHM Chamonix and the Italian rescue had to go to the Tour Ronde to help 2 british climbers that were blocked there. The party was blocked on the previous evening but the weather was very bad and the rescue could only be organised in the morning.
The 2 climbers came back safe.
