The Montenvers Railway suspended for 12 hours
Last Friday, late morning (12.30h), a train broke down on the Montenvers railway line.
More than 1,000 people were at the Montenvers station. It took the Compangnie du Mont-Blanc 5 hours to safely return everyone to Chamonix.
The next day, everything was back to normal with the resumption of a full service.
Normal Route of the Grandes Jorasses closed
The Mayor of Courmayeur decreed a bylaw to prohibit the normal route des Grandes Jorasses, by the Refuge Boccalate.
Forecasts of falling blocks of ice at the Serac Whymper are very serious and pose a huge danger to climbers and hikers who want access to the refuge.
