CHAMONIX: knocked out by a block of ice fell from the roof
Wednesday, around 19h in Argentière, a forty years old lady from Nancy, was walking in the village and was knocked out by a block of ice 1/2 m³ that fell off the roof. Alerted by witnesses, policemen and firemen intervened immediately. Victim of a head injury, the lady was immediately transported to hospital in Sallanches.
TUNNEL DU MONT-BLANC: The record of traffic for cars was beaten and the trafic is down 11% for trucks
1 198 993 light vehicles used the tunnel of Mont Blanc in 2009, 1% more then the previous year, a record since the opening of the Franco-Italian tunnel in 1965.
Meanwhile, the heavy trucks traffic has experienced a further decline, even more than in previous years with 11.93% of less traffic (only 518 258 passages).
