These short couloirs with 200m of descent give some good skiing. They are
accessed with a ten to fifteen minute traverse left after passing the breche on
the Charles Bozon piste. Many variations are available. Take care, as they lie
above the piste.
The following lists the couloirs as approached from the top of
the Brévent lift (i.e. right to left looking down)
-La Demi-Lune - Very difficult with slopes of 40 degrees
-Le Faux Col - Difficult with 35/40 degree section at the top
-Le col du Brevent - Quite difficult traversing on 30 degree slopes.
Guide recommended.
-La Pente de l'Hotel - Very difficult with slopes of 40/45 degrees
Bellachat
This is a superb, varied
descent of 1500m which given sufficient snow conditions on the lower
slopes is a great route in spring snow.
The route starts at the top
of the Brévent lift and leaves the piste after descending for 50 metres.
It traverses south along the south ridge of the Brévent towards the
Bellachat refuge.
From here the route descends leftwards across many
couloirs with slopes of up to 40 degrees, descends an avalanche couloir
and eventually picks up a forestry track that goes back down to the
car park at the Planpraz telecabine.
