Descent
The main route down is by the same as the ascent, on the South face. There are several variants, but watch out for avalanche danger, hidden cliffs, and terrain traps.
Once down in the Berard valley, follow the stream on the right hand bank, down to the village. The sunny restaurant will have a well earned beer for you, while you wait for the train back to Chamonix.
Due to the remote nature of this ski-touring route, we recommend
hiring a guide,
and always be equipped with Transceiver, shovel and probe. Be aware of
avalanche potential and snowpack conditions!
