East face (sun on the South face)
Mont Buet is the highest mountain peak in the Chamonix area, outside of the massif du Mt Blanc. There are some stunning views from the summit, and a great long descent. All in all an awesome full day out.

    Access
Go to the top of the Flegere ski area, by the Floria lift, and continue as per the route for the
Crochues-Berard traverse, but instead of continuing down the Berard valley, start skinning a traverse towards the North, past the Col de Salenton, towards the Mt Buet summit. There are some bowls to traverse and a ridge to climb, all on the south face of Mt Buet.

    great view
    Descent
The main route down is by the same as the ascent, on the South face. There are several variants, but watch out for avalanche danger, hidden cliffs, and terrain traps.

Once down in the Berard valley, follow the stream on the right hand bank, down to the village. The sunny restaurant will have a well earned beer for you, while you wait for the train back to Chamonix.

Due to the remote nature of this ski-touring route, we recommend hiring a mountain guide, and always be equipped with Transceiver, shovel and probe. Be aware of avalanche potential and snowpack conditions!
