In recent days, the condition of the Charles Bozon ski piste, which cannot be groomed this year, has deteriorated sharply. Taking it without an excellent level of skiing already proved to be very dangerous last week. Photo source: @Le DL/ Baptiste SAVIGNAC

Piste Charles Bozon, Le Brévent - Chamonix in 360 VR | Piste View - 26 march 2018

Since the start of this 2022-2023 winter season, the mythical Charles-Bozon piste which descends from the summit of Brévent has not been groomed due to a landslide, which occurred last summer, which prevented snow groomers from climbing up to 2525 meters above sea level.

According to Le Dauphine, with the passage of skiers, dangerous bumps have formed everywhere in this descent.

Several rescues and accidents have already taken place in the sector, in particular because the skiers don't have a good level of skiing for this high mountain and they ventured despite the dissuasive warnings of the employees of this ski area.

Access to the summit closed to snow sports enthusiasts until further notice

Due to the dangerous conditions, the access to the summit is closed to snow sports enthusiasts until further notice.

Only skiers accompanied by professionals will be able to reach the summit of Brévent in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (Haute-Savoie).

Note that the Brévent cable car remains open only to pedestrians who wish to enjoy an exceptional view of the Mont-Blanc massif.

Brévent cable car timetable from 4 February to 16 April 2023:

  • First departure at 8:50 am.
  • Last return trip to Le Brévent 4:15 pm, to Planpraz at 4:30 pm.
  • Last return from Le Brévent at 4:45pm, from Planpraz at 5:15pm.
