The alert was given by a witness who reportedly saw a paraglider fall 40 meters before hitting the ground.
According to Le Dauphine, when the firefighters, the SAMU and the PGHM of Chamonix arrived, the paraglider was in cardio-respiratory arrest.
Rescuers tried to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful. He was declared dead on the spot.
A problem that occurred during the landing seems in any case to be the cause of this fatal accident.
An investigation has been opened and must determine the circumstances of this accident which occurred despite rather good conditions for the practice of free flight.
According to the first elements communicated by the emergency services and the gendarmerie, it is a 63-year-old man from Vallorcine who was paragliding for pleasure.
