Although the outdoor pool at the Richard Boxon Sports Centre has been open since 1 July, today Saturday 8 July 2023, saw the official opening of the pool, with free access, a ceremony and a demonstration.
The Chamonix out-door Swimming pool is 50 metres in length and is a stainless steel basin.
For the opening ceremony, Eric Fournier, in the company of Ghislaine Bossonney and Aurélie Beaufour, cut the tricolor ribbon.
Eric Fournier is the president of the community of communes of the Valley of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (CCVCMB).
Ghislaine Bossonney, is the mayor of Les Houches and vice-president of the CCVCMB and
Aurélie Beaufour is the elected official in charge of sports in the Chamonix Valley.
The swimming team of the Chamonix sports club performed a demonstration while the general public was able to enjoy the new pool for free.
Only on this inaugural day, did the swimming center offer free access. It was popular, so not everyone could get in!
