How does a Shared Transfer work?

You will be taken from the airport arrivals and dropped off right at your chosen hotel or chalet, so you will not have to worry about taking a taxi or a bus when arriving in Vallorcine. You will be sharing the vehicle with other people who will be dropped off at different locations in Vallorcine. When leaving Vallorcine, your driver will pick you up from your accommodation and drop you off at the airport departures.

On Arrival at Geneva Airport

The Journey from Geneva Airport to Vallorcine

When travelling to Vallorcine, passengers might be dropped off in other resorts, such as Argentière or in smaller hamlets along the way. This tends to happen more when demand is low. Each drop-off does cause a delay, and if you are the last person in the vehicle to be delivered to your accommodation, or other chosen destination in the resort, there might have been a delay of 15-20 minutes, in a worst-case scenario. However, since the demand for resorts such as Argentière or Vallorcine is usually high, there is a good chance that your fellow passengers will be travelling to Vallorcine as well.

The Journey from Vallorcine to Geneva Airport

The transfer company will always notify you of the pick-up time from your accommodation or other agreed location in the resort. Be in that place at the appointed time. If you are not there, the driver will not wait, as to do so, other passengers might be compromised by your no-show.

As the pick-ups in Vallorcine are usually close to one another, you will soon be leaving Vallorcine and heading to the Geneva Airport. The driver might stop along the way to pick up more passengers. However, there is a good chance, especially during high season, that the minibus will not make any stops between Vallorcine and Geneva Airport.

Skiing in Vallorcine

Vallorcine was modernized in 2004 when a high-speed gondola was installed, allowing access to the Balme ski domain.

Vallorcine, together with Le Tour, is part of the Domaine de Balme, which consists mainly of beginning and intermediate slopes, thus providing great family skiing.

The main beginners' areas are located a train ride away at either Le Poya or Le Tour and are both excellent for those who are unfamiliar with skiing or who want to master the basic skills.

If you are an intermediate skier, the Télécabine de Vallorcine will take you straight to the blue piste Les Esserts.

Vallorcine/ Balme has a total of 29 km of ski slopes, mostly blue or red, serviced by 4 drag lifts, 2 chairlifts and 2 gondolas.

Vallorcine is also an excellent base for those who are passionate about going off-piste. Off the lift system in Le Tour, there are off-piste areas which are easily accessed and will take you back to the bottom of the lifts.
