The word tennis actually comes from the French word tenez meaning to hold or to keep. Early French players were known to start a game by yelling "tenez!" The English soon morphed this into tennis.
There are two Tennis and Squash centres in the Chamonix valley: Richard Bozon Center in Chamonix Town and the Tennis des Iles in Argentiere.

The Tennis des Iles centre is located between Chamonix centre and Argentière and offers 2 covered tennis courts and 1 squash court. Lessons and racquet rentals are also available.

To reserve a booking must be, "quart au quart" .
