  • The Vallée Blanche, all info about this off piste ski/skiing itinerary

The famous Vallée Blanche in Chamonix is an off-piste ski route, 20km long with a vertical descent of 2700m. The views are stunning and the high mountain environment provides a real sensation of wilderness. This is one of those memorable life experiences that you'll never forget.

If the conditions are good, this wonderful and magnificent adventure trip is accessible to most intermediate skiers and is a fantastic journey into the largest glaciated domain in the Alps, the Mont Blanc massif.

About half-way down the Chamonix Vallée Blanche, you can stop in the Requin Hut and have an excellent meal and drinks. When there isn't enough snow to come back to Chamonix on skis, it's much nicer and comfortable to stop at the Montenvers train station and take the train back down to Chamonix.

There are a number of variants to the Vallee Blanche, requiring a little more skill and knowledge of the area. Involving steeper skiing over a more difficult terrain. These routes are only recommended for advanced skiers under the guidance of a qualified mountain guide.
  • La "Classique" Vallée Blanche

The "classique" Vallee Blanche is the beautiful original route. Less steep, this route is the easiest to ski. This route will take you into the heart of the Mont Blanc massif. Mountains like the Grand Capucin, the Tour Ronde, the Dent du Géant will be just right there!!!

You'll see one of the most splendid forests of séracs during your descent of the Vallee Blanche. Don't forget that you need to be a good skier in all snow conditions and all types of terrain.
  • Grand Envers

The Grand Envers du Plan!!! Here you have the most beautiful and most difficult ski route of all the Vallee Blanche variations.  Skiing here becomes a serious matter. The Grand Envers Vallee Blanche is a route with sustained slopes of 40°- 45° and requires excellent technique and control of your skis.

If you're a good skier and you're looking for an amazing experience... this will be one that you'll never forget.
  • Petit Envers

The Petit Envers du Plan is a great route of  the Vallee Blanche with some sustained slopes. You'll ski through some amazing ice formations, as the Petit Envers takes you into the middle of a labyrinth field of crevasses and séracs.

You'll have the chance to ski some lovely slopes with few tracks on them, all set against the backdrop of the Talèfre and Géant glaciers. It's a route that is for strong skiers only.
  • Gros Rognon

The Gros Rognon is a small variation on the classic Vallee Blanche route. After skiing down the first quarter or so of the normal route, you go left to get into some less tracked snow.

You can now test your technique in deeper snow and over slightly steeper terrain.  The views are astonishing and you have to feel comfortable skiing in all types of snow to get the most out of it!!!
  • Snowboarders

    Snowboarders on the Vallee Blanche!!!!!

Telescopic poles are recommended for this as towards the end, on the Mer de Glace, there is a long section with little gradient, where a bit of pushing might be required.
