    What are the things to do with children in Chamonix ???
    There are plenty of activities to keep children amused in Chamonix! This list is far from exhaustive, but it will give you some ideas of great activities you and the kids can enjoy!

    Be sure to visit the nature reserves and zoos, animals are usually quite popular.  Has the weather turned?  Have a look at our
    rainy day ideas. 
    The Library of Chamonix (Bibliothèques) has a great kids corner with over 16,000 children and youth works.  Details on opening hours: 33 (0)4 50 53 34 82. You can also take a tour down in Sallanches and visit the
    Mountain Nature Center.

    Chamonix valley sights and here for day trips further afield, some are specifically oriented towards children.

    In the summer, you'll want to check out these

    The Chamonix sports centre is great for a nice swim.

    If parents need a break there are some Companies in Chamonix that provide their services, as Creches, Equipment Rental, Parties Organisers, Bouncy Castle & Babysitting in the all Chamonix Valley.

    Climbing & Hiking for kids in Chamonix.

    From complete beginners to "old hands," many of the guiding companies have group classes for kids based on age and ability, taught by mountain guides. Check out these
    guide bureaus.

    From a 3 hour initiation to rockclimbing at Les Gaillands to a 6 day youth Tour of Mont Blanc hike to a 5 day teenage mountaineering course, you can find the perfect outdoor adventure for your children.

    Les Gaillands is great for beginner climbers. The
    indoor climbing wall is also a great place for kids to test out their muscles!

    Paragliding

    Kids as young as 10 can go on a
    tandem parapente ride or even paragliding schools for the bigger kids.

    Here's where you'll find outdoor Children's Playgrounds for the little ones:
    - Near the Sport's Centre
    - Place Mer de Glace (near the Montenvers train station in Chamonix)
    - Les Planards (biggest and most varied)
    - Jardin d'Entrèves (Chamonix-Sud)
    - Moraine d'Argentère

    Open to all. In the Grepon Parking, next to the Aiguille du Midi Cable Car.

    BMX Park
    Open to all. In Les Bois by the river.

  • IMPORTANT: Children in the Mountains

    You may not know that children are very susceptible to altitude.
     - If your children have a cold and have blocked sinuses avoid taking them up on lift.
     - Children under 3 should not go above 2000m (specifically this means you should not take them up the second part of the Aiguille du Midi lift.)
     - Children 3-12  can go higher, but avoid  lots of physical activity.
