  • Rainy days in Chamonix - some ideas

    The mountains are not at their best in bad weather: but don't despair, there's lots to do. You could study French: you know you should. Or go for a walk, at low altitude in the pine forests. For children there are day centres and many Creches throughout the valley.

    The Alpine Museum in Chamonix is well worth a visit.

    The Art Gallery in Martigny is excellent. There is also the Midnight Gallery in Chamonix and the Galerie du Globe in Argentiere.

    Hit the Casino high roller ! and eat at their restaurant.

    Tour the cyber-cafes in town.

    Bowling Alley has bowling but also Pool, Billiards and Snooker upstairs.

    Visit the Office de Haute Montagne at Chamonix located in the Maison de la Montagne at 190, place de l'église, in Chamonix centre for information on conditions of routes and weather. The people there are very helpful.
