Cycling in Chamonix: Col de Joux Plaine

The Col de la Forclaz at 7.30hrs

One of the most beautiful and hardest tours in the Alps that can be completed in one day. Five magnificent and wild passes: 210 km and 4,045m of elevation gain.

The day begins with the ascent of the Col des Montets and then (Switzerland passage) onto the Forclaz pass. The descent to Martigny is very nice but there is a part of the route where you have to be careful as there are alot of cars. Martigny to half the Pas de Morgins, there are a lot of cars. Thereafter it is quiet and very wild.

The Chatel descent is awesome. The Col du Corbier is one of the most beautiful passes that we've done. Not very long, 20-minute climb, but with small bends. Along the way you will find cows to keep you company.

Morzine, Col de Joux Plaine, Samoens, Chatillon, Cluses Servoz and Chamonix

The descent into Morzine is a bit curvy - be careful! In Morzine there is a Carrefour supermarket where you can refuel, because the next stage needs energy to climb the Col de Joux Plaine as it is steep!! Hard, hard, hard!
