  • Trains in the Chamonix Valley

Discover the beautiful region of the Mont Blanc and the Trient valley by train. Ride on a smooth, comfortable train through spectacular Alpine scenery. The train runs from the early morning hours until the late evening.

The Mont Blanc Express SNCF trains run from the French station of St Gervais/Le Fayet with a steep climb to the Chamonix valley, through the length of the Chamonix valley, then on through the Montroc Tunnel to a high point near le Buet in the Vallorcine valley.

The excitement continues above a stunning precipice towards the Trient valley. Another tunnel marks the beginning of the final descent into the Rhône valley and the town of Martigny, Switzerland.

Along the line there are a number of stations. The main station is in the centre of Chamonix and provides access to the Montenvers tourist train to the Mer de Glace.

You can access the Tramway du Mont Blanc in Le Fayet or from the Bellevue cable car in Les Houches.
