Village du Tour dans la neige
Route du Tour

Big Wednesday! It sure was - it was the only bluebird day of the week, and we were treated to a perfect deep carpet of wind-buffed fluffy powder from the Herse and the Bochard at Grands Montets. We had to do a bit of waiting, but it was worth it, especially as the Herse opened first, allowing us a couple of sweet lines before we loaded onto the Bochard for more fresh lines. surfing on the smooth snow.

There was no wind, the visibility was perfect, and the snow was unbelievable, with stunning views all around. It snowed an additional 35cm with wind on Tuesday night, adding to the crazy amount we have had already this week, and smoothing over the tracks from Tuesday's Herse session. The groomers were also all soft and sweet. It was so beautiful - with the clear sky we could see everything around glistening white.

The next storm is already upon us, dumping big fat flakes in Chamonix as i write. If the world does end tomorrow, then at least it will be another powder day in the Chamonix valley!

Les Houches would have been great too, with soft pistes and awesome panoramas from every lift. The Brevent, Tour and Flegere ski areas are all looking very nice and ready for Saturday's opening day, with groomers being prepared. The valley is glowing with white gold.

I took the bus up to Le Tour village on Wednesday afternoon - there is so much snow up there on all the buildings, and there are big snowbanks lining the roads.

At one point in between powder runs, I was taking a break on the Bochard piste, when a snowboarder rode up to a rocky cliff and very smoothly jumped off doing a barrel roll right in front of me, almost without thinking about it - very cool!
