We had another dusting of fresh snow overnight on Saturday night in the Chamonix mountains (5-10cm), but it really didn't change the conditions much at all. The Grands Montets had some good fast skiing on the pistes today, and all the way down to Argentiere too, as the Pierre-a-ric has opened, with lots of man-made snow. It was a beautiful day, with lots of blue sky and great sunny views. The snow is hard, though, and it was becoming icy during the day, especially as there were lots of groups out skiing, so quite busy.
The bottom piste at Le Tour from the gondola has also been open since Saturday, and there were less people there, though the groomed snow was still pretty hard. Les Houches has a bit more open right now, and they should be able to open more when it snows, as at Brevent and Flegere.
So if we do get the larger snowfalls tomorrow and beyond, it should be great later this week. There will be high avalanche danger, though, and even though it might look good off-piste, there will be lots of rocks everywhere, most of them hidden by fresh snow - lots of sharks swimming just beneath the surface and waiting to bite!
