Some more fresh snow yesterday evening, and sunny above the clouds today.
Storm "Dennis" did tail-whip us yesterday, with some fresh snow on the mountain and quite a bit of wind. Though it didn't snow quite as much as we hoped, there was still 15-25cm of nicely wind-buffed fresh powder in the mid mountain (5-10cm at 2000m). The weather system started off as rain above 2000m again, and then the snowline dropped during the evening to about 1300m, so everything was bright shining white this morning.
There wasn't quite as much wind with the snowfall this time, which meant that the ice patches are not so bad today. It is really busy in Chamonix right now, though, especially on the pistes, so the new snow has quite often got scraped off the ice. The Pierre-a-ric piste down to Argentiere was particularly hard and icy, especially the lower section. Good edges and strong technique are essential!
Blue pistes are still the best at the moment, as seems to be the case a lot recently!
