François-Xavier Laffin takes the keys of Chamonix City Hall.
The first-round results held true. François-Xavier Laffin and his "Chamonix s'engage!" (Chamonix Takes Action!) list won the municipal elections with 53.94% of the vote, ahead of Jonas Devouassoux (36.73%) and Sophie Persyn (9.33%).
Following the withdrawal of MP Xavier Roseren between the two rounds of voting, voters who had supported the parliamentarian apparently turned equally to François-Xavier Laffin and Jonas Devouassoux.
The time for change has come. After 18 years under the leadership of Éric Fournier, the mountaineering capital has passed into the hands of his main opponent during the previous term.
Upon the announcement of the results, François-Xavier Laffin immediately promised to be "the mayor of all Chamonix residents."
