The 35th edition of the Heritage Days
The European Heritage Days 2018 is to take place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 2018 in the Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley. This year's theme is "The art of sharing".
Cultural events at the Museums in Chamonix: Admission free!
• In Town, Church Square, Chamonix:
- Saturday 15th September
- from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. "The ascent to Mont Blanc of Albert Smith": - Come with family or friends and relive the ascent of Albert Smith.
- from 6 p.m. Street show "Albert Smith, The Mont Blanc Show" - by the company "Lézards bleus" with Antoine Le Menestrel (front dancer) and Pablo Volo (voice). Sound designer: Vincent Lambert.
Albert Smith, 19th century English mountaineer, meets his dream: the ascent of Mont Blanc.
• Maison de Barberine Museum, Vallorcine:
- Saturday 15th September / Sunday 16th September:
- from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. - This house, dating from the early eighteenth century, is located in the hamlet of Barberine, near the Swiss border. Discover the traditional objects of the past life.
• Musee Montagnard, Museum of the Mountains in Les Houches:
- Saturday 15th September:
- from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon: "Tête à modeler" - After a visit of the museum, participate in a clay modeling workshop that will allow you to reproduce the traditional objects of the mountain (from 6 years).
- from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: "woodwork" - A wood sculptor invites you to share his expertise. Demonstrations and manipulations on the program.
- from 5 p.m.: Aperitif to close the day and discuss woodworking.
- Sunday 16th September:
- from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon: "A-musée-vous" - Discover the museum in a fun way through games of reflection and observation. Let your creativity and your imagination speak.
- from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: "woodwork" - A wood sculptor invites you to share his expertise. Demonstrations and manipulations on the program.
- from 5 p.m.: Aperitif to close the day and discuss woodworking.
• Maison du Lieutenant Museum, Servoz:
- Saturday 15th September

from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exceptional opening of the Maison du Lieutenant as part of the European Heritage Days.
- from 11:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.: Guided tour "Mysteries of the house" - Visit of the heritage with Christine Lasserre, guide speaker. Discover the architecture and history of the house.
- Sunday 16th September:
- from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exceptional opening of the Maison du Lieutenant as part of the European Heritage Days.
• House of Memory and Heritage in Chamonix:
- Saturday 15th September / Sunday 16th September:
- from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon) and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Last days of the temporary exhibition "Bhutan".
- Four photographers in love with Bhutan: Matthieu Ricard, Olivier Föllmi, Markus Wild and Robert Dompnier. All were eager to witness the beauty and richness of this little Himalayan kingdom and its unique character in today's world.
• Musée Alpin in Chamonix:
- Saturday 15th September:
- guided tour at 11 a.m. "A l'assaut du mont Blanc". Discover the collections related to this emblematic mountain and follow the footsteps of men and women who conquered it.
- Sunday 16th September (continuously):
- City tour "Rallye Selfies", Country of Art and History: - A roadmap, 7 works, 7 places to discover, 7 amazing memories! Leave your notebook at the Musée Alpin and go on an adventure in the streets of Chamonix.
- Sunday 16th September:
- from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. "Lever de rideau sur les collections". What do you think is happening behind the scenes of the museum? The teams at the Musée Alpin and three art restorers meet you to share their know-how. Exchanges and demonstrations.
• Espace Tairraz, Crystal Museum, Chamonix:
- Saturday 15th September / Sunday 16th September:
- from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Come and meet the members of the Mineralogy Club of Chamonix and the Northern Alps and see the crystal museum in their company.
- from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Thanks to the binocular, take a closer look at the minerals.
- from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Discover a reconstituted alpine oven and go in search of crystals.
