White Marmotte was started by Ian Huyton, Stine Keyes and a love of mountains. We began in Les Deux Alpes in 2017, running the occasional mountain skills day or ski tour alongside Ian’s ski teaching.
In 2021, we made the move to Chamonix following the call of the bigger mountains. Living in Chamonix allows us to fully develop our summer offering. From our base below Mont-Blanc, we now run courses and trips across the Alps. These include guided or self-guided treks as well as mountain & navigation skills courses for walkers, skiers and mountain professionals.
What makes us different?
Independent operator: We’re a small independent tour operator, meaning we give personal attention to every aspect of our products.
Small groups: We limit the group size to eight customers for all our group products. This gives you more of a chance to get to know your fellow trekkers, and lets the guide give more of their attention to every customer.
Flexibility: over half of our work is with privately booked trips, whether guided or self-guided. We specialise in putting together tailored packages to meet people’s needs.
Fully legal: we feel we shouldn’t even need to say this, but we ensure we operate legally in France and all other countries we work in. All guided products are led by an International Mountain Leader with a UIMLA recognised qualification.
