As was the case in 2024 and 2025, the Mont Blanc Tunnel will be closed for an extended period in the autumn of 2027 and again in 2028 for vault renovation work.
Traffic will be completely interrupted for 15 weeks each time, totaling three and a half months. "The exact dates haven't been finalized yet, but it will be in the autumn," explains Gisèle Rossat-Mignod, CEO of ATMB (Autoroutes et Tunnel du Mont-Blanc).
And after 2028? For the continuation of this work, two options are being considered: a complete closure for more than three and a half years, or an annual closure of three and a half months for nearly 20 years. No decision has yet been made.
