Three-time UTMB winner Xavier Thévenard from the Jura region will be at the starting line of the 90km Mont-Blanc Marathon at the end of June. This will be his first race in six years.
This news has thrilled the entire trail running community. A three-time UTMB winner, having won the race in 2013, 2015, and 2018, Xavier Thévenard will be returning to competition. The Jura native will be at the starting line of the 90km Mont-Blanc Marathon on June 26th in Chamonix.
Suffering from Lyme disease since 2020, the "UTMB legend" has endured several very difficult years, far from the highest level of competition. His last notable appearance in Chamonix was at the UTMB in 2021, where he was forced to drop out.
On June 26, he will tackle a particularly demanding challenge: the 90km Mont-Blanc race (6,330 meters of elevation gain). It's a tough course in the Chamonix valley, where Thévenard has already shone in the past, winning in 2017 and 2019.
