Chamonix: The Kandahar is back in 2020

 

Kandahar, the Men's Alpine Skiing World Cup is coming back in the Chamonix valley in 2020.

On Wednesday 7th June 2017, Radio Mont Blanc announced that the International Ski Federation (FIS) scheduled the Kandahar Alpine Ski World Cup in Chamonix valley, on 8th and 9th February 2020.

The FIS proposes to organize two races on the legendary "La Verte des Houches": a downhill competition and an alpine men-combined.

Friday 9th June 2017, at the meeting of the Community Council of the Chamonix valley, the elected representatives must give their agreement and financial commitment on this return of Kandahar at Les Houches.

According to Ski Chrono, Chamonix will also host Kandahar in 2021.

The last edition of Kandahar took place in 2016. The Chamoniard, Guillermo Fayed, was ranked 4th in the overall classification of the Downhill World Cup.
