Freeride World Tour 2018: not for Chamonix

Tuesday 12th September 2017, the organisers of the Freeride World Tour announced the official programming for the next year's event.

Chamonix will not host the Freeride World Tour in 2018

According to Le Dauphine, the Chamonix stop is not in the 2018 FWT calendar, taking into account the financial requirements of the organizers. This decision was taken this spring 2017, by mutual agreement between the Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley and the organisers of the Freeride World Tour.

After two rather bad years for the event here (last winter the competition was relocated to Arcalis) the Chamonix stop was replaced by a brand new location in Hakuba, Japan.

New 2018:

  • Swatch no longer appears as the main sponsor of the FWT 2018;
  • 2 new destinations on the circuit for next year's event. The 2018 freeride event will be kicking off in new location Hakuba, Japan in January, followed by the second new venue of Kicking Horse in BC, Canada in February.
