Autumn lingers on, but the ski lifts are closing much sooner. All those still in operation will shut down on Sunday evening, November 1st 2026. Until then, the Montenvers train and the Mer de Glace gondola continue to run.
The ice cave has closed for the season, but the Glaciorium, next to the hotel, remains open. The Planpraz gondola follows the same schedule, having reopened for the All Saints' Day holiday.
The Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m) will also close for its annual six-week maintenance.
This gives visitors plenty of opportunity to enjoy the beautiful autumn days forecast for the remainder of the holidays, whether for a final climb or a hike, before the valley enters one of the rare periods of the year when no lifts are accessible.
