The Sibuet Family New Owner of Restaurant Le Panoramique Mer de Glace

This winter 2016/2017, the new restaurant "Le Panoramique Mer de Glace - Bistrot avec vue" reopened to visitors of the Montenvers, Mer de Glace.

The first restaurant renovated by the Sibuet family in Montenvers, Le Panoramique, opened its doors on 17 Dec 2016. Completely recreated and boasting a blended modern and authentic ambiance. Earthenware tiles cover the floor, kilk jugs and wooden features display on the walls. This new restaurant, Le Panoramique offers high quality French cuisine served in a traditional style, lovingly-crafted and slow-cooked.

Until further notice Le Panoramique offers only a lunch time menu. There is no evening service.

A real culinary adventure for tourists and Chamoniards alike, delicacies include the traditional Veal blanquette, the Savoyarde pork hotpot and the Grandma's chicken casserole. Also you can find a delicious selectionod desserts: the "Dôme du Goûter" chocolate, hazelnut, spiced caramel, "Mer de glace" Vanilla vacherin, homemade raspberry liqueur and meringue, the Mont-Blanc with sweet chestnut cream and a double cream meringue. A veritable feast!

Le Panoramique is located at 1,200 above sea level. To reach the restaurant, take the funicular railway from Chamonix to Montenvers, a journey of about 20 minutes, with an altitude gain of 1000m.

Attention: do not to be confused with the restaurant "Le Panoramique" at the summit of Le Brévent (2,500m).

It is no coincidence that the Panoramique at the Montenvers has been named Le Panoramique. This is because of the expansive terrace and the magnificent panorama of Les Drus, Le Mer de Glace and Les Grandes Jorasses, with all their majesty!

So come and have lunch in the middle of the mountains before the opening of the entire site!

The brand Maisons & Hôtels Sibuet is the new owner of the restaurant Le Panoramique Mer de Glace. A family business of Jocelyne and Jean Louis Sibuet, pioneer of mountain hotel industry since 1989, the Sibuet Group has undertaken this project in partnership with the Hôtel-Restaurant-Montenvers company, the Chamonix town hall and the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc.

According to Nicolas Sibuet, CEO of the Sibuet Group "This is a listed heritage site, listed by the organisation, Bâtiments de France. We were tasked with dismantling and rebuilding the terrace, in the style of a ship's hull and offering breathtaking views over the Mer de Glace".

The main objective of the Maisons & Hôtels Sibuet is to satisfy tourists wishing to eat typical regional dishes at a good price in a beautiful location with stunning scenery. The Sibuet Group targets a clientele looking for an extraordinary culinary experience, in this emblematic natural site of Chamonix.

The project, led by the Sibuet Group, is part of an investment of about €6.5 million, which includes the Montenvers Hotel and three catering outlets: Le Panoramic Mer de Glace, Restaurant du Montenvers and Bar des Glaciers.

In 2016, the company launched a new brand of mountain hotels, Terminal Neige. The first hotel in the terminal brand is in Flaine. It is Terminal Neige - Totem. The second hotel opens in June 2017, above Chamonix, with the name Terminal Neige-Refuge Montenvers.

It is no coincidence that the Panoramique at the Montenvers has been named Le Panoramique. This is because of the expansive terrace and the magnificent panorama of Les Drus, Le Mer de Glace and Les Grandes Jorasses, with all their majesty!
