Grands Montets is our ski area until the end of the season now, as all the others have closed. The good news is that there is still plenty of snow, and the Bochard is back up and running!
The last few days have been warmer, with sunshine and clouds, and strong foehn wind from the south. Today was a bit more cloudy, still with the foehn wind. The snow at Grands Montets was softening quite early this morning, so it was a good day to get up the mountain in good time. It also got quite busy later on (lots of ski school groups). Pistes were great on the lower mountain, and icy at the top, but it probably got softer this afternoon.
It was snowing a bit in the high mountain, but the sun stayed with us through the clouds, and the foehn wind kept the temperature mild. Skiing the smooth pistes was amazing, especially down low, but off-piste was a bit rough and quite tricky! (better later on when more soft)
The weather is supposed to stay unstable, and the forecast says probable mountain snowfall tomorrow afternoon, and then again Thursday afternoon, especially in the high mountain zone, so we will see what we get from this storm cycle. It will probably rain up to 1800m or 2000m, but I think it will get cooler for a while after Thursday.
