An end of season powder day today at the Grands Montets! There was great snow, some sunshine early, then more clouds and showers this afternoon (snow above 1800m).
Yesterday the clouds built up and the rain came, and it gave us 20cm of fresh snow overnight at the top of Grands Montets (and about 5cm at 2000m). The sun made a brief appearance this morning, in between the clouds, and then the visibility got bad at the end of the morning. The snow was great though - a nice way to send off the winter.
Tomorrow is the last day of skiing at the Grands Montets for the 2017-18 winter. The forecast isn't too stable, but there should be some sunny spells for the Freeride days party, and maybe a bit more fresh snow from tonight.
Overall we have had quite a winter this year - lots of storms, especially early on, tons of snowfall, and then the storm cycles tapered off to give us some excellent spring snow cycles towards the end.
Ski-touring and high-mountain skiing continues this spring, but the conditions are quite wild, still with a large snowpack and high avalanche danger.
