The biggest snow day was yesterday (Monday), with 45cm of fresh overnight at 2000m, on top of what had fallen on Saturday night and Sunday daytime (30cm+++)! The snow quality was amazing, as it was snowing down to the valley bottom. There weren't many lifts open, due to high wind and avalanche risk, but the skiing around treeline level was excellent, with deep powder everywhere, and soft groomers.
Today it got warmer, with a rainline at 2000m, but snowing all day above that, with another 20-30cm of new snow at 2500m. Lots of lifts stayed closed today, because of high avalanche risk, including the whole ski area and village at Le Tour.
Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, so it should be a wonderful day for skiing, with more lifts opening, and some more sunshine later in the week. Merry Christmas from chamonix.net!
