Big snowfall again today! It snowed about 20cm overnight Thursday at 2000m, with a snowline below 1000m, and it is snowing hard all day in the Chamonix mountains, with quite a bit of wind.
Les Houches was a good place to ski today, with lots of trees, so we could see, as it was mostly foggy higher up. The snow was deep, and the pistes were powdery, and it was snowing heavily all morning. The forecast is for 20-40cm to snow during the day, and then more on the weekend, with maybe some sun on Monday and Tuesday, which is pretty amazing.
It has been quite a snowy week this week, and yesterday we were treated to an unexpected 50cm fresh powder at the Brevent (it had accumulated over the previous couple of days). Yesterday afternoon the sun was out too, so we got really lucky, with great quality light and deep powder, and good visibility for a few hours (see photos above).
Several of Chamonix's lifts are on storm closure today, due to wind and avalanche risk, but most parts of Grands Montets, Le Tour, and Les Houches were open, although it is cloudy all day. The best skiing was in the trees. Conditions are soft!
Today's video is short, and gets a bit fuzzy later on, as the lens got covered in snow and fogged up!
