There is not much change in the skiing and riding conditions recently. It is still super sunny, with mostly hardpacked snow, icy in places, and softening a bit in the direct sunshine on certain slopes during the day.
There was some fresh snow on Friday morning, but it only amounted to about 5cm in the mountains, which doesn't make much difference to the snow conditions.
Brevent today was beautiful in the bright afternoon sunshine. The mountains are still white almost everywhere, and there is an added bonus viewpoint now open, with the new cabin at the Brevent summit working since Friday. This adds a long piste and quite a bit of terrain to the Brevent ski area, especially since parts of the Cornu are currently closed for avalanche danger.
The snow was looking quite good on the high piste, but it is quite narrow in places, so can be icy. As is often the case, blue runs around the mid mountain zone seem to be in the best condition right now, and off-piste is generally quite hard and variable.
The Savoy beginners ski area is finally open, just on the edge of Chamonix town, as well as parts of the Planards, so there is plenty of skiing to be done in the Chamonix valley right now!
As for the weather predictions, well, apart from some clouds tomorrow, the sunshine is still going to continue into the week, but there is a possibility of some active weather approaching towards the end of the week. We will do a snow dance and see how that works out!
