The sunshine continues!
Today was another stunning super sunny day in the Chamonix valley. Le Tour had some amazing views this afternoon, bathed with sunshine.
It was really cold up there, though, as the north wind was blowing, especially when going up on the chairlift. Some of the ski area is more sheltered from the wind, so it wasn't too bad! The snow was pretty fast and hardpacked for the most part, and quite icy on some of the pistes, especially in high-traffic zones.
The other ski areas of the Chamonix valley all have plenty of snow coverage, especially above 1800m, and probably had less wind today. The last significant snowfall was 2 weeks ago now, when we had a decent amount of fresh snow in Chamonix. It has been blown around and compacted over time, but it really gave us a good depth of snow for this sunny period.
Apart from a few clouds and 2 or 3 snowflakes on Wednesday night, we have had nothing but clear sky all week, and the forecast is set to continue the same for the next few days. There is still lots of snow, as it is staying mostly cold. Hopefully there will be some more proper snowfall soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the sun, and the quiet ski areas.
