Un éboulement sur les Viaduc des Égratz: circulation fermée!

Late on Wednesday, August 20th, a rockslide occurred on the descent of the Égratz Viaduct, where the road runs alongside the cliff face.

According to Le Dauphiné, a car was struck head-on by rocks. There are several reported casualties and possibly one or two deaths.

Emergency services deployed significant resources, including four ambulances, the SAMU (Paramedic Emergency Medical Services), and the mountain rescue helicopter. A long traffic jam formed behind the accident. Traffic is at a complete standstill.

The Mont Blanc Tunnel is closed to heavy goods vehicles heading towards France, and light vehicles must exit the RN 205 at Servoz (exit 24) and follow the S1 alternative route to rejoin the A40 at Passy at exit 21.
