This Sunday, September 21, 2025, around 5 p.m., the Mont-Blanc Highway and Tunnel teams noticed a rockfall on the viaduct that connects the Mont-Blanc region to the Chamonix Valley.
The prefectural authorities and the highway company decided to temporarily close the Egratz viaduct.
The rocks fell at the "Parking des Gures" (Le Chatelard), a site that is not intended for parking but rather for a short-term or emergency stop. At 9 p.m., the ATMB teams confirmed that "no human or material damage" to users had been reported.
Traffic between Chamonix and Passy
Vehicles descending from Chamonix are therefore required to exit at Servoz to reach the lower part of the valley via D13. Driving uphill, motorists are advised to take exit 21 at Passy.
