The organizers of the Mont Blanc Marathon are known to be sensitive to environmental issues. Since 2004, the Chamonix Sports Club has been adopting an eco-responsible approach to reduce the impact of all its activities.
On the marathon event, since 2015, at the refreshment stations there have been no plastic bottles, disposable cups or plastic cutlery.
This year, the organizers are tackling the big issue... transportation. According to the Air Co-op agency, with which the Chamonix Sports Club has been working since 2021, 96% of the carbon footprint of the Mont Blanc Marathon is due to runners' transportation to and from Chamonix.
To encourage participants to reduce their carbon footprint when traveling to Chamonix, 40% of the race bibs have been reserved for runners arriving by public transportation.
